The Seignemartin cheese diairy was created in 1930 and was based in Moulin de Charix, a commune near Nantua until 2010.
1930 : Francisque Seignmartin runs a business of wine trade with his two brothers Camille and Marcel ; he decides to expand the business by selling cheese (by then, we talked about Comté gruyere cheese).
1952 : Francisque suddenly dies ; his 18 year-old son René who studies at the dairy school from of Poligny takes over the small local business.

1952-2002 : René specializes in Comté refining and expands its business : the stock in cellars increased from 60 rounds to 40 000 rounds. From a local fame he brings a national rise to the cheese dairy. In 2000, he creates in Nantua a second robotised refining site, entirely dedicates to Comtés.
2002 : René Seignemartin’s daughter Isabelle, and her husband Christophe Lancien (working with René at the company since 1991) take over the cheese dairy.
2010 : The Seignemartin cheese dairy leaves the Charix sites and move to Nantua, at Gelinotte Street, 350 where is built the main refining site, order picking room, cutting room and office.
2012 and 2016 : refining cellar enlargement from 37 000 places to 73000 places.
